Hoover Dam 2006
At 726 feet high, the concrete Hoover Dam is one of the tallest in the
world. It has a striking beauty, with its imposing, graceful curve
filling a dramatic red rock canyon, backed by the brilliant blue water
of Lake Mead. Its simple form and art deco embellishments and design sit
beautifully within the stark landscape. Its construction in the 1930s
provided needed employment during the Great Depression.
